Midge peeked her jingling head out from behind the Route 1 Cafe's bathroom. She looked back down at the sheet of paper she held in her heavily tinseled hand again, just to make sure all of this was not going to get her thrown out of the store. Nodding to herself, she ducked back into the bathroom, where a little green-eyed girl in a brown bob cut with pink ribbons tied to either side of her hair in adorable little bows and corduroy overalls was standing there rubbing her hands off with a paper towel. She looked up at the figure before her in awe-filled, wide eyes that rivaled those of Japanese Anime characters.
"Are you Santa?" she asked, somehow not realizing that she was in the girls' restroom.
"No," Midge said in a dramatic voice. "I am your savior."
She sleekly ran out of the room, where the little girl was smiling, calling back, "YOU ARE SANTA, I KNEW IT!!"
Mello saluted to her and lightly hopped upon one of the tables in the eatery, tossing a video camera to someone nearby. The person realized what he should do with it and flicked it on, pointed the camera at her and pressed record, nodding for her to begin.
Midge was wearing a sleeveless wool dress intensely covered in faux snow, Christmas lights, wrapping paper, tinsel and price tags that went down to her knees, Multiple santa hats, red and green mittens and faux fur boots that reached her tibia. She had holly strung through her hair, HO HO HO arm warmers and an eyepatch that said "Naughty" on it. She posed for the camera a moment, gathering up her breathe and (with a bauble-covered green microphone in front of her face) belted out a calamity of parodies.
First was Jingle Bells
"33 days 'til Christmas,

Midge yawned to get air in her lungs, she hadn't paused at all during that. "ANYONE WANNA JOIN IN?" she asked the crowd.
Notes: Sorry if this is offensive! Please don't get peeved at me! I'm just not a Christmas fan! Or really a winter-holiday fan. I've spent far too many trying to fall asleep on planes, thank you very much!

The sun was out, yet the air was still chilled. Atticus sat up in his bed, scratched an itch on his back, and yawned. He popped his lower back before standing up and heading to his closet. There was a specific routine he went through. He glanced at the full length mirror on the back of his door and chuckled to himself. Boxers, mirror, closet, loose-fitting jeans, mirror, belt from floor, mirror, closet, loose T-shirt, mirror, closet, blue and black striped sweatshirt, mirror, red scarf hanging from door, mirror.
Content, he slipped on a pair of converse and left his dorm, tucking his inhaler and wallet away in his pockets. He stepped outside, opting to zip up his jacket. A warm drink sounded nice. He began making his way over to the cafe on the school campus. It was a bit on the spendy side, but he didn't mind too much. A cough wracked his frame, and he frowned, taking note of the frigid air. Well that certainly wouldn't be good for his asthma.
He made his way inside of the cafe, his attention immediately being drawn towards the decorated girl singing on top of a table.
"I'll just have a small cup of the Chamomile tea, please," he said, taking out the three dollars it cost and setting it on the counter. He scooted over to the place where he was supposed to wait for his drink, casually listening to the singing girl. As she finished her song, his tea came, and he gently sipped it, feeling the warm liquid warm him from the inside out.
Atticus took a seat near her as she asked if anyone wanted to join in. He shook his head but decided on asking a question of his own.
"Do most Americans stand on tables and sing Christmas carols in a cafe? Or is that a new trend?" he asked in his British accent.

Midge's eyes quickly darted down to the blonde boy who was flaunting his British heritage like an expensive handbag with little interest. He was attractive enough, perhaps 10th grade or so and seemed to belong to the High School. She nodded, her voice dripping with sincerity as she replied "Yes, but it works with most every song in every store in America. In fact, you really aren't cool until you've barged into a cafe and sung songs without asking the owners if it was alright to do so first. Right Rafael?" she called to the clerk washing a pickle jar at the desk.
"My name's Randal, but I can understand your not being able to read my name tag from this far away." he called in reply.
She nodded in apology and turned her attention back to the popular tea-drinker at the table nearby.
"Do you have any requests?" she asked him. "I'm not going to listen to whatever you say, but to appear polite, I might as well pretend I care about your opinion. You obviously are doing the exact same thing with your polite small talk and pleasant ignorance, but I don't mind the truth. I find it spares feelings."
She awaited his response with a slight tapping of her foot to indicate that she was waiting and that the camera was still rolling.

  Melissa was loving the feeling of Christmas as it approached Pallet High. Though it was only nearing the end of November, it already felt like Christmas was in full swing. The campus had holly and mistletoe spread everywhere, and some of the students had even put up Christmas lights. (She would have to do that with her dorm room, now that she was thinking about it!) She loved winter, especially Christmas. It made her think of family, warmth, songs, and the snow that she could play in. Of course, family was never an easy topic for Melissa - her step-mother and her father were very loving, of course, but Micah wasn't always the best. Christmas seemed to make Micah a little agitated, but Melissa thought that he secretly enjoyed it.
As she walked along, the cold wind rapidly snaked it's way along the open passages and the open spaces between the school building and the Route 1 Cafe, creating a loud whoosh in its wake. Mew was glad she was wearing her pink-knit hat, scarf and mittens, as well as her snowflake patterned jacket. This outfit was good for going outside in the cold. As Mew lengthened her stride to the Route 1 Cafe, she could smell something good coming from it. It was well light with Christmas lights already, as if Thanksgiving wasn't even on the radar. That did irritate her that Thanksgiving was skipped over, but Christmas was enough to make her happy.
Mew stepped inside and was filled with warmth. She walked inside, taking off her hat to reveal her blonde pigtails and pulling off her scarf and mittens. She looked up to see a familiar face standing on the stage in the cafe, staring out challengingly at the crowd. She had a camera with her, and she was tapping her foot impatiently. Melissa saw the microphone in her hand and immediately started bouncing toward the stage.
"Ooh, ooh, Midgemidgemidge! You should sing "Winter Wonderland"! I love that song!" Mew exclaimed excitedly, bouncing up and down in her excitement. She tossed her mittens, scarf, and hat onto a nearby table and climbed up on stage. "I can sing with you! It'll be fun!" She grinned excitedly
Summary: [/i] Melissa muses about Christmas and walks into the Route 1 Cafe, figuring on getting an apple cider. However, she sees Midge on stage with a microphone and becomes excited, telling her to sing "Winter Wonderland". She climbs on-stage in order to sing along with her, not really caring that there isn't another microphone or anything. (She doesn't really notice Atty, since she doesn't know him in person and she's excited about singing.) He rose an eyebrow, unamused. This would have never happened in Britain. The police there would've arrested her on the spot for disruption of the peace. It was an interesting mental picture for him and the slightest of smiles tugged the corners of his lips upwards.
"I don't really know any festive songs, so I haven't really got any requests," he muttered, taking another few sips of his tea. He hated these paper cups. They weren't the same as the ceramic mugs from home. But the fact that they used actual tea leaves as opposed to the small bags made up for it to a certain degree. He turned to go leave the cafe when a girl bounded past him and proceeded to request a song. She was oddly cheery.
"Ooh, ooh, Midgemidgemidge! You should sing "Winter Wonderland"! I love that song!" Atticus watched in silence as she proceeded to climb up on the table.
"You know, despite what you may say, I don't think I'm ever going to accept this as the norm," he said, figuring that this bouncy girl was a friend. A second thought crossed his mind and he scanned the cafe, eyes darting from person to person. When no one piqued his interest, he pulled up a seat from the nearby table and sat down in it.
It was warm in the cafe, and he decided that staying a while wouldn't do much harm. If the girls got to be too much, he could always leave. It wouldn't be too bad, could it?

In response to his sudden grumpy demeanor, she stuck her head down and whispered "Sorry, this is just for the camera. Nice choice in tea, by the way, but those paper cups drip through the lining and make it disgusting, don't you think? That's why I always bring my own mug." She bent her knees and stood up straight again, turning to face the camera.
"$10.99 mugs make the best Christmas presents, holding up to a venti size drink in each and keeping your fingers from burning, whilst still keeping them toasty. Great for grandmothers and aunts!!" she sang, pulling out a mug that had a ceramic scarf as the handle from somewhere in her back pockets that seemed not to exist. Truth be told, she had a LOT of junk her pockets, they were weighing her down quite a bit.
Suddenly, Melissa came inside, peppily bouncing along in her baby-pink knit hat and scarf, the pom-poms hopping up and down like cartoon bunny rabbits. "Ooh, ooh, Midgemidgemidge! You should sing "Winter Wonderland"! I love that song!" she called out, hopping on top of the table happily. Midge sighed. It was too bad that she had to destroy the happiness in her friends mindset, Christmas wise, but she was going to destroy them, whether she was happy to or not.
"Okay!" she said, bouncing a little to match her friends mood. "Of course I'll sing a PARODY to Winter Wonderland!"
She grabbed the mic from out of her "pocket" and began to sing.
"Snowballs hit your car windows,
And the hate in your heart grows
For those hooligans
Who bloody your shins,
When you walk into their Winter Wonderland.
Sleds destroy your bed of geraniums
Whilst they laugh and call you stick in the mud
Because boys will be boys
And your property their toys,
In this freshly fallen wonderland.
Christmas used to be about religion,
Now they never visit Parson Brown,
Paegan rituals are not for sinnin,
But cutting down every tree in town.
Later on, there's hot cocoa
For the boys, but mother's love you don't know.
And suicide day will come back, hooray!
In our favorite winter wonderland!
Notes: I don't know this one extremely well, so I had to look it up on youtube, and guess what the second thing to come up was??? SELENA GOMEZ. See, this is why I kind of hate Christmas. Dean Martin is best caroler.

As Midge started to sing, Melissa joined in gleefully. If the blond boy had anything to say about their shenanigans, she was blissfully unaware of it - she was too busy alternating between singing, dancing, and giggling. She slowed down her singing about half-way through as she heard what Midge was singing, which did not match was she was singing. She wasn't singing the right words, how odd. Melissa's singing grew quieter as she listened to the new lyrics and hummed along until they reached the end. At the bottom of the song, she tugged on Midge's sleeve lightly to get her attention.
"Midge? Your singing was very nice, but I don't think those are the right words. But don't worry!" Mew perked up delightedly. "I'll help you learn the right ones! 'Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin'...?'"
She started singing with decent tone. She wasn't the best singer, nor was she trained, but her voice wasn't painful to listen to by any standards. And she loved to practice! She spotted the blonde boy eying them strangely, and sipping at his tea.
"Hey, do you know the words to "Winter Wonderland"?" Mew waved and directed her question at him. "You should sing with me, so Midge can learn the right words! It's a really nice song." Mew added to Midge as she started again. "'In the lane, snow is glistening...'"
Summary: [/i] Melissa informs Midge that those were not the right words, and starts singing in order to teach her the right words. She then asks Atty if he knows the words, and if he does, that he should sing with her. Song:[/i] Winter Wonderland by Dean Martin Comments:[/i] Herp derp, late. And I dunno, I find things I love about Christmas. Ignore the commercialized stuff - that, I guarantee, is not Christmas.  [/blockquote] |

I shivered as I walked toward the Cafe. The cold wind had blown through my black sweater, but I was use to it. My ears were warm though, I had a semi-wolf hat that had ear flaps on my head so I was happy. As I came in to the building I caught the tail end of the parody of the "winter wonderland" song. I laughed as I pulled my hat of and told the waiter that I wanted a cup of raspberry leaf tea, though just bring out the tea bag and a canister of hot water I had my own mug. "That was well done!" I told the girl on the table with a small round of applause. "I'll take a mug if you have an extra, or if you don't could you tell me where they are sold?" Just then I saw Mew on the stage."Oh! Hi Mew!" I said as I paid the person who brought my tea. "How are you doing?" I asked as I doctored up my drink in my black cat mug. Summery:Vicky is cold so she goes to get something hot to drink and sees her friend and complements Midge. Note: She is use to the cold because she is from Oregon where it is cold and wet for 350 days out of the year. (Mostly true statement there)  |

Midge smiled at Mew, despite herself. The naive little girl was just too cute. She didn't particularly WANT to crush her dreams, but crush them she would. Midge wasn't at ALL doubting that fact, she was feeling a lot like one of those power~high Disney villains who have no doubt in their hearts that they will win. Midge DIDN'T compare herself to one of these people, however, or she would have remembered that the underdogs always win in them. Midge really did not like Disney movies because of that fact.
"If all of that hard work and dedication to your cause means NOTHING to these 'heroes' than what the heck is this trying to teach the children? Ruin other peoples plans for the future?" she used to tell her cousin Nicole when she made her watch them.
Nicole would shrug. "I guess it's just saying that good will always win in the end." she'd tell her in her "That's just the way it is" voice. Midge would scowl at her. "Well who's to say that Hercules is the good guy?"
"I suppose that he's the good one because he is trying to prevent anything bad from happening to the world, right?" Nicky would say, always cautiously to prevent her cousin from bursting in anger.
"No change at all then," Midge would grumble. But she sat through it all.
"Mew, it's not exactly that I don't know the lyrics," she explained. "It's that I'm changing them to make a different message. You're allowed to use the same tune as long as you site the song that you're altering beforehand. As I obviously have. And before you ask why, it's because I just don't like Christmas."
She turned and noticed a silvery haired girl sip at a cup of raspberry leaf tea. "You there!" she called. "You understand what is happening here, right?" she gestured at the camera and herself.
PS Well whatever floats your boat Rachel. Honestly, I'm happy it's over. But eh!

I smiled brightly at the girl on the stage. "But of course! Filks are a great way to get peoples attention to buy something or go to a place that you want them to go." I call back to her as I set my mug down a throw my arms out wide, being careful not to hit any one near me. "I know of an ad that I saw on tv where this mall had filked the song "Its the most wonderful time of the year" to suit their needs of getting people to the mall." "So cheer up, Mew." I tell the blond girl next to her. "What this wonderful lady is doing is perfectly fine!" I smiled once again very brightly, then take another sip of my tea. Summery: Amy needs to explain to Mew what Midge is doing. Note: Filk is an actual word! It is derived from the word folk, because it started out as a parody of folk songs so they had to call it something and thus came about the word "filk". (Another mostly true statement) |

Midge cringed slightly at being called a "Wonderful Lady", but didn't respond in a negative fashion. The girl was for her cause, plus she was friendly with Mew. Midge refused to ever let the girl see her be too horrible to other people, her friendship was a bit too dear to the proximity~less girl.
"So, Rudolph comes next!" she hollered and winked at the camera. A few bits of this would definitely have to be edited out or the video would turn out too long, but all in all she was pretty happy with the turn out. Her film would definitely make the finals of the competition she was entering. Quickly, she adjusted her dress so that it would stay on. The dang thing was slipping often. Mostly in the beginning she had been worried about the ornaments and tinsel, but Midge wasn't wearing anything underneath this dress. Well, underwear, but she didn't own any sleeveless bras so she had decided to go without. The restroom was only a few yards away, she'd be able to make it over there in a few seconds if she sprinted. But the dress would be slipped down to her legs by that time, so she wouldn't be able to make her sprints very long... Ah, it would be fine! She didn't need to worry, right now just think about the parody.
"Rudolph the shopping mall Santa,
Heard children's Christmas wishes all day.
He used to love kids, but now he
Wants them all to go away.
'Kids today are so greedy'
Rudolph would always tell his spouse.
'When did they become so needy?
The cost adds up to a small house!'
Then one day while smiling for the photo,
He couldn't take it anymore.
The little boy sitting in Santa's lap
Had asked for his own toy store!

Cassie snorted awake suddenly. Holy heck, where was she? Oh right, she was in the Route 1 cafe, drinking a cup of hot cocoa. She glanced down at her mug and realized sort of sadly that it wasn't exactly hot cocoa anymore... More like thick chocolate milk. She stirred it a little with her pointer finger and sucked it. It was still good. She took a big gulp of it and noticed a rather festive group of people nearby. Or at least, one of them was festive. She was a rather short, Asian freshman wearing all different kinds of baubles all over her body and her curled, purple hair (Why did Asians always curl their hair? Why weren't they grateful for their easy to groom, straight stuff? Cassie was perfectly fine with hers being the way it was, except for the color. Well, she shouldn't judge. No one liked a hypocrite.). Geeze, wasn't Thanksgiving a little early for this junk? Cassie wasn't the biggest on Christmas, her mother usually made her come home those days. The only thing she looked forward to was the letters from Dad, but those didn't always come on the holidays. Just most often.
She listened to a song or two, sort of glad that the girl was being sarcastic with her winter wear. It would have been plumb annoying if she hadn't chosen that outfit out of spite. She was a little loud, though, and Cassie had been trying to sleep/draw. The icy weather was making her short tempered, so she hollered at the girl.
"Would you quiet down over there, please? Some of us like not disturbing the peace!"
She dramatically flopped her head back down on the table and faux snored.

Midge glanced over at the snoring sophomore at a table near the window. She was alive? Thank lord! Midge had been worried the poor thing had suffocated or something. Not that she particularly wanted to help, but there were feelings in there. Seriously. Anyhoo, the camera was still rolling and "the show must go on!"
She jingled over to the girl with the sketchpad and tapped her shoulder. "Do you have any requests?" she asked, brightly enough. She snatched the sketchpad and flipped through it, making sure not to care if the girl was unhappy with this. She was GOOD! There wasn't a lot of variety here, mostly just silvery, winter~based sketches of people, trees, landscapes and animals, but all of it was high quality. She flipped back a little more to see Autumn and Summer pictures and a single Spring picture of a boy and a girl two rabbits so that it looked like they were kissing, with "Spring youths" scribbled on the bottom, at the first page. The girl looked sort of like the girl and the boy suspiciously like a rather~taken Bartholomew . Midge giggled a little. At least she had taste. She closed the book and looked at the front cover. "Property of Cassandra Francis Orman". Information, anyone?
She laid the sketch book back upon the table and clinked and clanked toward the crowd, asking once more for suggestions. She'd look up Cass when she got home. Or Cassie, or Sands. Whatever she wanted to be called.
