Midge opened the door to Archeops, her favorite place outside of school in Pallet. She adored wandering the dusty building, looking at the books and art pieces, fingering the toys and trying on the clothes. The shoppe owner liked her, it seemed and always greeted her with a warm hello. She was a frail, older woman with a warm smile and an odd fashion sense. She was quiet, but mischievous like Midge, and almost was the Freshman's role model. Today, she wore a purple tank top, orange fuzzy boas on her arms and an emerald skirt. Her accessories consisted of a gothic style veiled cap over her glossy curled blonde hair, peacock feathered shoes, her usual red horn rims over her sparkly hazel eyes and her big fat blue purse. She smiled when Midge stepped inside and greeted her with the usual salutations. "Good day, Ms. Appleberry," Midge replied. She gave a true smile in return, which was uncommon for her (usually she wasn't quite... warm.) "I'm expecting another costumer today, love!" she cried happily. "You get other costumers here plenty!" Mello protested, picking up a musty book and slowly breathing in happily. "You're just saying that," Ms. Appleberry lied. "Now, I know it's a long shot, but still, my son told me that they were coming!" Midge rolled her eyes. The woman was a fan of meeting knew people, but she couldn't stand to leave the shoppe for more than three hours. It was embarrassing, but apparently she didn't mind. Hopefully there would be another person to come around here, though. Midge simply didn't have enough money to pay the woman's bills with her purchases. "Oo! Look, here they come now!" she squealed, peeping out the door.

Jynx had always passed by the Archeops Antique Shop, but today she was interested in seeing what exactly was inside. It was strange that in three years she had never been here, but that was what happened when you followed your friends around and didn't do too much wandering. She had been trying to keep her grades up and focus so her father would let her stay at Pallet High. Now that she had reached her senior year, she wanted to relax a bit. This year she wanted to see what was in this town. She was curious, and she didn't have a lot of homework in her classes right now, so she could spend a little time wandering to places her friends hadn't wanted to visit.
They hadn't wanted to see this place because of the woman who ran it, Mrs. Appleberry, but Jynx thought that was silly. They should at least meet the woman before they said they didn't like her, shouldn't they? Besides, there was cool looking jewelry in the windows, and that made her interested, since she always liked to have more jewelry. It couldn't be that bad, if there was interesting things to be had.
Jynx entered the store, and the bell overhead jingled to announce her presence. She saw a girl wearing a cape, with dark eyes and long dark hair, and the woman behind the counter, who she assumed was Mrs. Appleberry. She dipped her head politely to them.
"Hello," She greeted the pair of women, and then started wandering through the shelves. She looked around for a moment, and then asked, "May I see your jewelry? Some of the necklaces you have on display are fabulous." She wasn't sure what else to say, but she was curious. The girl staring at her was sort of weirding her out. She looked so dark and serious, it made Jynx a bit uncomfortable. But she didn't want to regret this. She had come to buy something.
Summary: [/i] Jynx decides to visit Archeops for the first time, and enters the store. She says hello and wanders around for a minute. Then she asks if she can see the jewelry, since that's what attracted her to the shop first. She feels a little nervous about the presence of the girl (Midge), but she doesn't want that to get the best of her. Comments:[/i] Just had to throw her in there. Looks like fun! :] [/blockquote]

(Hey, Rachel, should we just share the Ms. Appleberry role? She's an NPC, but I always feel guilty for controlling too many characters.)
Midge tried to grin in the African American girl's direction, but it ended up looking more like a grimace. The only times when she could really smile were when she was prank happy (And she guessed you wouldn't really WANT to see that smile) and when she was with those she really knew. Of course, Midge KNEW her (Midge knew most everyone in the school. They didn't know her, but she knew them, for many unspeakable reasons), she was a cosmetics~majoring senior named Jynx Wintrs who was having trouble with her school work, but they hadn't talked. Ms. Appleberry didn't actually know that Midge had a pranking problem, the girl was too embarrassed to tell. I know, firsts for everything, right? Jynx seemed uncomfortable with her studying stare, so she directed her face toward Ms. Appleberry, who was busy chattering about how she had flown in herself to Peru to get some of the necklaces. The jewelery she was regarding was made from petrified wood that was dyed ever~so~slightly in a way that was almost impossible to detect, all you knew was that somehow it reminded you of a specific color while looking perfectly natural. The other beads were gypsum carved into leaves and feathers to give it an extra earthy, natural feel. They really were glamorous in a subtle way, which Midge grudgingly admired. When the elder woman looked back at Mello, the girl subtly moved different muscles in her face to convey words. "I ought go, else I scare off girl." she silently said. Ms. Appleberry shook her head slightly. "She not so shallow, give chance!" Midge shrugged and stayed where she was. "So," she asked in English. "How's cosmetics?" Midge cringed, wishing that she could take her words back, realizing too late that she sounded like a stalker. And a bad one at that.

Jynx was immediately interested in Mrs. Appleberry's discussion of where she had gotten the necklaces. Peru, she had said? They were exotic, then! That was even more exciting than if they were simply historical. She listened as she talked about the special kind of wood that they used in them, and how shiny the beads were. She noted every detail, and really liked all of them. Her heart was sold, however, when she saw the red beads. She held them up to the light, considering them as an option.
She didn't really notice the silent conversation going on next to her. She was too busy examining the beaded necklace, and how it looked. She held it experimentally up to her neck, where it would rest if she bought it. She liked it. There were little flecks of purple along the beads, and that just made it all the more eye-catching.
"So," Jynx looked up as the girl addressed her. "How's Cosmetics?"
Jynx blinked. "I... How'd you know what I'm majoring in? I've never met you. You best not be stalkin' me or something. 'Cause that'd be kind of creepy." She shrugged a bit apathetically, and went back to admiring the beads. She was really considering buying them - they would be an exotic addition to her collection of accessories, but she still wasn't sure. They were a bit pricey.
Summary: [/i] Jynx looks over the beads and really likes them, blah blah blah. She asks Midge how she knows what she's majoring in, and says that she'd better not be stalking her. She doesn't seem too bothered, though, and is more occupied with the beads. Comments:[/i] We can share her, no problem. :] (I just didn't have much for her to do in this particular post.) Midge blinked. How on earth had she gotten out of that one? She wiped the sweat off her brow in thanks to the awkward silence gods, and begged them again for more material. She scanned the walls in vain to look for anything to keep the awkward silence away and instead found a boa constrictor basking in the sunlight that peeked through the store-front's windows. She gasped, but covered her mouth. It wasn't moving, so she could probably scoop it up nice and easy, but that gave her nowhere to put the thing. How on earth had it gotten in? Was there a pet store nearby? Was it better to leave the snake where it was?
She decided against that and slowly moved over to where the reptile was. Jynx was still admiring the beads as Midge scooped the huge snake in her arms with a puff of breath. The thing was at least thirty pounds, if not more, and she staggered a little under its weight. It was a majestic beast, with beautiful coppery scales and chocolate brown spots, smooth as silk, though not as soft. Ms. Appleberry noticed her with it and exclaimed loudly. "What the-" but it was dumped upon her before she could get the swear out. Midge looked to Jynx, now entirely sure that the girl would think she was a freak. It was harder for her to take the odd glances of fellow females than males for some reason.

"Hmm, these are just fabulous..." Jynx murmured under her breath, watching the beads in her hand catch the sunlight. They glowed a soft red, like she was holding a glowing coal in her hand. They were beautiful, and they were rather tempting. If only they didn't cost as much as they did, then she would have bought them in a heartbeat.
She was distracted from her revelry by a gasp from the store owner. She turned quickly to see the strangely-dressed girl holding a huge snake, a boa constrictor. Jynx screamed loudly, dropping the beads back into their container as she backed away.
"Where the hell did that come from? Put that --" She had a few choice words ready, but she saw Mrs. Appleberry and stopped herself, replacing her words carefully. "That freaking monster back before it bites you, or anyone else in here!"
She backed away. If that snake got any closer to her, she was going to freak. Out. Severely.
Summary: [/i] Jynx admires the beads, then hears Mrs. Appleberry gasp. She turns and freaks out at the sight of the snake, screaming. She yells loudly for Midge to put the snake back. She's freaking out. Comments:[/i] Where did the snake come from?[/blockquote]
