personality
Cherry is quite a warm, fun person with a kind heart. She is very friendly, and likes to make friends with almost everyone. She is good at making chit-chat, and likes to make people feel welcome no matter where she is. If someone needs help, she will offer her own assistance, whether she feasibly can or not.
She experiences a lot of personal discomfort & uneasiness when she sees anyone is in pain - especially physical pain. That is why she is studying nursing. She hopes to help people someday, especially with her knowledge of nutrients and love of helping people. She is a generally smart person, and if she doesn’t understand something, she will work at it until she does.
Because of Cherry’s studies in school and also her diligence in research and reading medical text books and newsletters such as the Harvard Health Letter, she knows a lot about all kinds of diseases & syndromes. She found she can learn more just Googling an illness than sitting in a class – although she is a bookworm at heart. This does not mean, however, that she doesn’t enjoy being in class – she loves to learn, and is always trying to answer questions.
She has the one unpleasant trait of worrying that people will hurt themselves. She is the kind of person who says things like, "Step back from that cliff - you could fall off!" which can be helpful, but at times a little too mothering or seen as being a partypooper. Cherry doesn’t see it this way (“It’s good for them, so too bad if they don’t like it!”), and only wants to help and give the best (and correct) advice.
She is quite knowledgeable about proper nutrition and that people may hurt themselves by eating poorly. She also likes to know what people are doing, and hasn't quite gotten the idea that maybe people don't want to be told what to eat or what not to eat. She recently told a friend to step away from a slice of pizza, and then offered her some carrots from her apron pocket instead. This didn’t earn her any brownie points (no pun intended) with this friend, but she felt it was the right decision. She doesn’t like being questioned, and can get a bit snippy if someone decide to tell her that she’s wrong.

appearance
Although she subscribes to the rhetoric of proper nutrition, Cherry has a sweet tooth & likes to sneak little treats like ice cream - especially peppermint and strawberry. She isn’t the most in shape, but she also isn’t extremely out of shape, either. She likes to hike at times, and while not the most athletic, she tries her best to exercise, since she knows how healthy it is. At 5’6”, she is able to mingle in the crowd without standing out. She wouldn’t reveal her weight, since she is generally five to ten pounds over her recommended weight. However, she is happy to share her BMI of 24.2, since that sounds better.
She has a peaches & cream complexion and is light strawberry blond with striking crystal blue eyes that twinkle when she smiles. She is not an exotic beauty but is a homespun beauty, often referred to as "that girl next door." She wears her hair in pigtails that are tied tight just behind her ears. When she feels like dressing up, she puts thin pale pink ribbons in her hair.
She loves to wear pink and her favorite piece of clothing is a pale pink apron that she wears most of the time. It has big pockets that she puts things in like band-aids, neosporin, arnica for bumps & bruises, & special herbs and ointments that she uses on the other students when they have hurt themselves to help them heal faster. Most importantly, she never forgets to carry After Bite in case someone is stung by a bee! She always a small spiral notebook with a blue pen attached as she likes to take notes about her day, as well as to document any care she gives to her friends and fellow students.

history
hometown - Kansas City, Kansas
She was born in Kansas City, Kansas Cherry with her fraternal twin, Barry. They can fight & argue, but always have each other’s back and are really quite close. When they were going into the 6th grade, they moved to Colorado from Kansas City because both her parents got teaching positions at the University of Denver. They thought it was a good time to move since they were going into middle school. Cherry has always loved school and loves living near the mountains.
When she was very young, she would find injured insects & try to prod them to start waking again. As she got older, she found she loved to take care of injured animals and birds. She liked to feed them and nurse them back to health before releasing them into the wild. She read all kinds of books about nurses and started dreaming of becoming a nurse around 7th grade. One of her favorite movies scenes is in Pearl Harbor where the nurses help triage the wounded.
She is a little bit of a tomboy mainly because of her brother’s influence and is fairly athletic and coordinated. She enjoys snow skiing and being in the snow for almost any activity. She was always involved in sports in Kansas City & loved to swim and play soccer. Now she likes to go hiking and rock climbing. She is an avid camper and can pitch a tent in under 10 minutes.
In elementary school – from kindergarten on - she always had her best friend, Merry Joy. She and Merry were closer than anyone else. Cherry had other friends, but there was no one like Merry – they understood each other, and both wanted to be nurses. In 5th grade, however, Merry moved in 5th grade to New York City. This was difficult for Cherry because she was losing her closest friend of that time. However, her family happened to be moving to Denver around the same time, and the change of scenery helped Cherry get through the heartache of losing her friend.
During the summer before middle school, the whole family packed up to move to Denver. Cherry was now free to look around for other schools – she had no immediate ties with the public school that was in her district. With her parents’ encouragement, she applied to a high-end science academy for middle school. Science was her favorite subject, but she really enjoyed Chemistry the most. Studying the elements and especially how they reacted when heated up and combustion occurred always thrilled her. The Bunsen burner labs were her favorite. She was lucky to be in a school with that had money to spend on the Science labs. She even received an award as the top Chemistry student at her school (even though there were only boys in her class), and was quite friendly with her teacher. The library was a close second to her favorite place. She was always reading during her lunches, and liked the simple smell of the books and how quiet it was. It was her own sanctuary. The only down side of the science academy was that she couldn’t wear her beloved pink apron to school as they had a strict dress code. The principal even took away her apron when she tried to wear it to school one day, and after that horrible experience, she vowed never to go to another school with a strict dress code.
When the opportunity arose to apply to high school (even though it was only an hour away), she chose Pallet High School. She would miss her family, since it was a boarding school (she even had to admit she would miss Barry the most), but the school offered not only a lack of a dress code, but also a strong pre-nursing program that would get her ready for nursing school. It seemed like the perfect choice. Cherry has had three good years at Pallet thus far. She has enjoyed the nursing programs, as well as all of the strong academics and the kind people that she has met so far.
When she graduates next year, she hopes to stay at the school working part-time in the Nurse's Office while she goes to nursing school at night and taking some of her classes on the internet.

- I chose Cherry's name because of Cherry Ames was a fictional nurse that had her own book series, Florence Nightingale was the founder of nursing, and Channing sounds phonetically like Chansey.
- Cherry is majoring in Nursing because of how Chansey was always seen in Pokemon Centers as the nurse Pokemon, and is minoring in Nuitrition because according to Bulbapedia, the egg is carries is said to have medicinal powers and be very healthy for someone to eat.
- Cherry is blonde and wears pigtails a lot because Chansey is pink, and blonde is relatively close to pink, if you're translating Pokemon colors into human, and her 'hair' looks like it is in pigtails. She also is a little overweight, relating to Chansey's oval shape.
- Her pink apron with all of her medical supplies is again supposed to be like her egg, which was said to "heal any Pokemon or human that ate it." And so she has healing supplies in her pink apron, which also appearance-wise looks like her egg pouch.
- Her personality reflects her nursing interest and her overall friendliness and helpfulness, which was reflected in many movies and TV episodes of Pokemon. The worrying aspect was again evident in the TV show, such as when Pikachu tried to escape in the first episode of Pokemon and Chansey promptly freaked out. This aspect was also expanded for the character, but still relates to Chansey's compassionate nursing demenor.
- In her history, Merry Joy is supposed to be like Nurse Joy, and was, as such, Cherry's closest friend. Her twin brother Barry was somewhat like Happiny because of how cheerful he was. She was also portrayed as active because it said that Chansey "could run fast if in danger," and so she had to be at least a little athletic. She's not perfect, but she tries to be healthy. The interest in science lead to the interest in nursing, which leads us back to Chansey.

Cherry walked through the old wooden door that lead through the narrow hallway into the theatre. She thought that the squeak of the door hinges must have been heard all the way through the wings of the stage! She loved being part of the set design crew. The smell of the paint & the wood being freshly sawed was a familiar, comforting smell. She wasn’t quite sure why, but thought it must have been rooted somewhere in helping her father with little projects in his garage workshop when she was young. Although she always wondered what it would be like to be on the stage itself, she was content to be on the set design crew. She liked to see the end result of their efforts: how simple two-dimensional drawings looked like real things, even from the second or third row in the theatre. The day before they had just finished a brick wall that was nothing more than paint on cardboard, but it looked real! Cherry couldn’t wait to get started again today.
The old backdoor of the theatre was always open during the summer so that they could keep working on the designs for the end of summer play. This year was an abstract set design for Hamlet. Although Cherry wasn’t that familiar with Hamlet, she was excited about the set design that had been drawn up by her good friend, Larry. When Cherry wasn’t thinking about nursing & nutrition, she loved her volunteer work in the theatre. She liked puzzles and seeing the set come together as the excitement & anxiety about opening night approached!
So far, the set design consisted of sloping planks, curved wooden archways and a large wooden chair which was to be seen by the players as a deathbed, a coffin and the throne for the king. She was going to be screwing in wheels to the bottom feet of the large chair. The wheels were going to need to support a lot of weight, so she was preparing herself with a rather physical job of supporting the chair while she drilled in the wheels.
Suddenly, she heard the back door squeak loudly and slowly as if the person coming in wasn’t so sure they were in the right place. Or perhaps they didn’t belong there during this quiet afternoon in the mid-summer heat. Cherry immediately went on alert and froze, crouched behind the tall chair.
