personality
Micah has an intelligence level above the average person, putting him in the genius category. He absorbs information naturally and can recall it for tests and questions immediately, not having the need to take notes. Though he does possess this talent, Micah still feels the need to fuel his mind with studying not to lose this edge. It could just be the competitive side of him coming out, since he does possess a desire to do better than someone else. He doesn’t possess a photographic memory, just one that can process information faster. Before engaging a situation he will usually take in the surroundings to determine a plan of action. His decisions usually try to accommodate the best for everyone, not just himself.
Being stubborn is another of Micah’s characteristics. He knows where he wants to go in life and no one is going to change it. Flexibility isn’t a strong suit of his, especially in his own set of morals and thoughts. Everything he does is usually planned out to a tee and once he heads in a direction, Micah will not turn back for anything. Someone trying to change Micah’s thoughts is in a losing battle. Solid facts and evidence must be brought to his attention, along with time to think upon what the other person said will only change his mind. Apologizing and admitting that he was wrong takes some time and patience due to Micah's stubbornness.
When he was younger, Micah was a very violent person. If anyone tried to approach him, Micah would lash out in violence to keep everyone out. Though he has calmed (thanks to Melissa’s help,) that violent side still dwells within him. Micah does give out a verbal warning if he feels that he’s reaching a breaking point. However, this warning is only once. Depending on how angry Micah is determines what happens next. His weapons of choice are pens, pencils, tennis balls and books which are thrown at the offender. Spray painted black tennis balls or the book he has on hand are considered extreme, even in Micah’s opinion. Very rarely does he use hand-to-hand violence, unless it’s just to push someone out of his way. He’s getting to a point in his life that violence is a last resort that ignoring the problem yields more results than backlash. If ignoring doesn’t work, Micah will unleash his fury in a wave of thrown objects.
Though he is very intelligent, Micah shy’s away from socialization. Staying in his dorm in the dark is the most likely place that one will find him. The solitude and darkness is comforting to him and allows him to think more clearly. In a group of people, Micah is more of an observer or listener than a contributor. No one really knows how to take him because he’s so quiet and serious all the time, rarely smiling at anything. If someone needs a sounding board, Micah is the best candidate as he will just listen and not intervene. However, don’t expect him to give an opinion on the situation. He prefers to keep his thoughts to himself, only expressing his opinion if he’s in complete objection. The only way for him to open up is if one happens to become friends with him, which is almost impossible to do due that Micah refuses to trust anyone easily.
The only way to become a friend with Micah is if common ground is revealed to him, whether it be an interest or background. Once that is established, another side opens up to Micah. Having a conversation is easier, though he won’t always express his true viewpoints and opinions so easily. The serious façade that he keeps disappears from time to time for a small smile. However, Micah becomes a very protective friend and will take up a leadership role if needed. He will voice his concerns over what he thinks is best for his friend’s well being. Sacrificing himself or fighting for a friend is something Micah would do in a heartbeat if he believes it is necessary or the only option in a situation.

appearance
Micah’s hair is usually black; with the occasion of being dyed a dark purple depending if he is in a good mood. The difference isn’t stark and is only visible when the sunlight hits it. Usually Micah wears his hair short and neatly combed with most of his forehead hidden by bangs including his thin black eyebrows. If he’s in a terrible mood, Micah’s hair reflects it as the neatly combed hair turns into a messy, unorganized and mostly erect like an angry cat. His jaw is squared and his overall skin complexion is pale, due to not venturing into the sunlight often. Micah’s eyes are slightly smaller than the average American’s and he typically wears purple contacts, hiding the dark brown color Micah’s iris normally possesses. As for the rest of his countenance, Micah has a slender nose that branches out at the bottom to his nostrils and thin lips.
Standing, Micah is six feet tall and his weight is approximately two hundred and eleven pounds. For his upper body, Micah appears slender. His arms are rather boney and if he were to remove his shirt, his rib cage can be seen along with a flat stomach. Micah has little to no muscle tone in his body, seeming not to care much for athletics. At his waist, his hips do seem to unnaturally bulge outward a bit going into his legs. Though his legs are larger at the top, they narrow significantly when reaching the bottom. Micah wears a size eight shoe.
Micah is a simple dresser. His primarily wardrobe colors are gray, white and purple to avoid too much attention due to his introverted nature. T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts and jeans are his typical choice, with t-shirts being tighter than his long-sleeved ones. Micah has with him a pair of grey and black headphones that he normally wears either over his ears or around his neck; the back case features (when the headphones are turned on) a piece that slides upward resembling grey horns that are an inch over his head. Off his shoulder, Micah carries a gray with purple accented backpack in which he keeps his laptop, books, binders, miscellaneous school supplies and five black spray painted tennis balls. His shoes are typically white walking shoes, lacing them with gray shoe laces and coloring the sole purple.

history
hometown - Long Island, New York
Audrey and John Rainer were high school sweethearts that eventually became married. The two had a fairy tale relationship, so it seemed. No quarrels, no problems, until the couple came upon trouble getting pregnant. John came from a prestigious European family of businessmen and even owned his own bio-engineering company, so it was an embarrassment that his wife couldn’t produce a child. They turned to science to induce a pregnancy. Three times it failed and John had no choice but divorce his wife of two years. In desperation to become pregnant and save her marriage, Audrey turned to a sperm bank in New York City and told John that she was visiting her parents in order to keep it a secret. This time, it was a success and nine months later, Audrey gave birth to fraternal twins, Micah Kenji and Amber Ai. This act alone saved their marriage.
The twins were practically inseparable from the beginning. If one couldn’t see the other, they would cry until the other was back in view. Even beyond their infant stage, Amber and Micah played well together and babbled unintelligibly to each other as they learned to form words. As they continued to develop it certainly seemed that Amber was more of the leader and Micah was a follower. This didn’t sit well with John, who had planned his son to succeed the family business. Thus, plans were made for Amber and Micah to attend different private schools. It was met with resistance from the twins and though Audrey also voiced her concern, their words fell on deaf ears.
Soon after, the accident occurred. While returning from a shopping trip with their mother, a semi truck ran the red light, slamming into the driver’s side of the vehicle with enough force to flip the small compact car. Audrey was flung from the vehicle, while Amber and Micah remained in their car seats. Amber died at the scene and Micah sustained severe injuries. Micah woke in the hospital screaming and fighting, pulling wires from his body and throwing anything that he could get his hands on. Nurses and doctors had to be called in to subdue the boy, injecting him sedatives which eventually calmed him.
After the home coming, John and Audrey saw changes in Micah’s personality. His memory of his sister was completely gone, which surprised them the most considering their relationship. Pictures of Amber were met with a blank stare from Micah. The introverted child was still there, avoiding other people entirely. However the change came quickly apparent when the couple took Micah to school. Anyone who would talk to him, Micah became aggressive, if no higher authority was around. Appalled by his behavior, John took him out of school and began to enroll the help of psychologists and doctors to try and “calm” him. At first, Audrey went along with the treatment of her son, thinking it will help his violent tendencies. Micah became separated from his mother for long periods of time, under the supervision of his controlling father.
Finally, Audrey took her son and left, filing for a divorce unable to stand the treatment and isolation of her son any longer. A heated custody battle ensued which left Micah being pulled from his mother’s house to his father’s for months. Once again, Micah dug deeper in his self-reliance and began to trust people less and less. After Micah took the stand against his father, Audrey was ultimately awarded full custody and it was then she settled in New York City. Micah was eight at the time.
Life suddenly became easier for Micah. Though he didn’t have the friend base or the socialization skills, he excelled in every subject that was given to him in school. Audrey was impressed by his sheer knowledge and gave the school the okay to test his intelligence. It didn’t surprise Micah that he tested well, even into the level of a genius; the boy knew he was smart and the label was not necessary. He absorbed knowledge like a sponge and nothing escaped him. Even at such a young age, Micah had an interest in biology and how the human body worked through genetics. Though the school wanted him to skip grades just so he had a challenge, Audrey refused due to the fact Micah lacked the social skills and she feared another outbreak of violence. Micah wanted to prove himself at a higher level, however his mother wouldn’t hear of it. To undermine her fears, Micah tried his best to find people like himself and become friends with them. The few people he did become friends with, Micah became extremely protective and would fight other people off of them.
A little over a year after their move to the city, Micah began to notice changes in his mother. The changes were subtle. Audrey’s mood went from depressed to cheerful and happy very slowly. He was coming home to an empty apartment a couple times a night and his mother would make hour long phone calls to someone. Soon it became apparent that she was dating someone; the knowledge came about by eavesdropping on a conversation. Micah didn’t know whether to be happy or confused by this sudden knowledge. He was glad that his mother was finally turning her life around, but Micah was concerned about his mother’s safety with another man. Finally he met his to be step-father and step-sister, Jacob and Melissa Matthews.
At first, Micah seemed fine with the change. His mother married Jacob when Micah was eleven and the man adopted Micah as his own child. The boy had no issue with having a step-father; it was nice having a man who wasn’t as controlling as his previous father. A problem began to arise as his mother seemed to favor his new sister over him. Audrey was always smiling and laughing when she was with Melissa, something Micah couldn‘t do for his mother. Jealousy and resentment began to creep into Micah. Soon, he didn’t want anything to do with the younger girl. Everything Melissa did annoyed Micah; the mews, the bubbly personality, the trying to become friends, even her smile. He became violent with her, often throwing objects at her or pushing her into a wall when in reach. However, he did give her a verbal warning, just so he could avoid doing something vicious toward her. Even when he found out they were on the same intelligence level, Micah turned it into a competition hoping to dash any hope of their relationship proceeding to a friendly state. When the boy found out they shared an interest in genetics, Micah changed his interest to Parapsychology. The longer this progressed, the more Micah saw how foolish it was to do this. In his mind, the bridge was already brunt between them, so why turn over a new leaf? Continuing to pretend things were the same was much easier to admitting he was wrong, though the violent tendencies Micah had toward Melissa had diminished.
As he entered his junior year, Micah found out that Melissa was skipping a year of school. Micah began openly opposing the idea, much to his mother’s horror. She feared Micah’s violent tendencies were to rise again. After a private conversation between the two parents, it was decided that Melissa to move to another school, leaving Micah behind as an only child once again. When Melissa was about to leave for Colorado, Micah privately wished her luck, mostly out of his own guilty conscious and denied any revelation concerning it.
For the period of time that followed, the house was quiet. Micah devoted himself to studying and reading, getting ready for a new school year. Though he didn’t want to admit it, Micah began to miss his younger sister. When Micah received the first letter from her, he tore it in half in front of his parents, only to piece it together when he was alone to read it. This peace wasn’t to last long as John suddenly came to their door, demanding that he have Micah. Somehow he had found out about Micah’s superior intelligence and wanted full custody of him. Fearing what would happen if his father did obtain custody, Micah convinced Audrey and Jacob to send him to the private school, following after his step-sister almost as school was about to begin.

- Micah means “who resembles God.” In this case, “God“would refer to Mew. Mew is the genetic building block of every Pokémon alive; since Mewtwo is a clone of Mew, the first name fits. Kenji means “second son.” This fits concerning that Mewtwo had an issue being a shadow of Mew, or in this case second place.
- Micah’s violent side is based on a predominate factor of Mewtwo. Though on Bulbapedia it repeatedly says that Mewtwo was crafted as a blood thirsty violent Pokémon, the movie “Mewtwo Returns” begs to differ. So, I kept an aspect of violence in Micah, but not to the extreme the encyclopedia states. Micah’s preferred weapons are thrown at his opponents; much like Mewtwo likes to throw Shadow Balls.
- Ambertwo was a clone that was created about the same time as Mewtwo was in the movie “Mewtwo Strikes Back.” It was edited out of the English version of the movie, only to resurface in the Special Features section of “Mewtwo Returns.” Amber (or Ai as she was known in the Japanese version) was the daughter of the scientist who was responsible for the cloning project. How she died is unknown, but she was lost at a young age. I thought it was appropriate to include this in Micah’s history, just like it was a part of Mewtwo’s history. Similarly, they both have little memory of Amber.
- As a psychic Pokémon, it only makes sense that Micah changes his interest to Parapsychology instead of Genetics. Mewtwo takes a drastic change between the movies from caring about beating out his rival Mew to wondering about his place in the world.
- Mewtwo is known for living in caves, thus sparks Micah’s interest in Geology. In Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, Mewtwo is found in Cerulean Cave after the character beats the Indigo League. In “Mewtwo Returns,” Mewtwo’s base in Purity Canyon is in a cave and at the end of the movie; he is seen in the moonlight of what appears to be the backdrop of New York City. This is also the reason Micah enjoys the solitude of a dark room and seems much more active during the night than in the day. I know this contradicts the basic “Dark Pokémon beat Psychic Pokémon” philosophy, but this is a part of Mewtwo I cannot deny Micah.
- Long Island seemed appropriate as Micah’s birthplace, due to the fact Mewtwo was created in a lab on Cinnabar Island. The explosion is referenced in the diaries left in the Pokémon Mansion, pointing to this fact.
- John, Micah’s father, is the embodiment of Giovanni. As the name “John” is the American equivalent of “Giovanni” he also possesses certain qualities at the Team Rocket leader has. John is a successful business leader in bioengineering plus he’s controlling over his family and longs to have his son Micah back for his own personal gain. Much like Giovanni, who is the leader of a Gym, a successful entrepreneur of Team Rocket and longs to have control over Mewtwo to exploit his powers.

Before the sun had began to think about peaking over the horizon, a brown curl-haired woman with green eyes and her teenaged son were leaving the ticket counter at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. Surprisingly, the terminal seemed completely deserted minus the TSA agents and other airport personnel. At most, the only noise were the sound of both of their shoes shuffling across the tiled floor. The young teen’s purple eyes seemed focused on his boarding pass in his right hand, glancing over the details as if expecting a flaw or disturbance in his flight pattern, his left hand occupied in his faded blue jeans pocket. Though he looked fine, the woman’s brow furrowed with worry, clutching her yellow and pink handbag as her medical scrubs with butterflies on it swooshed softly as she walked.
“Micah” finally the woman said, in a quiet voice as if not to disturb the peace. Purple eyes cut to the woman, not necessarily glaring at her but not facing her entirely either. They stopped in the middle of the deserted terminal, only steps away from the first checkpoint. “Are you sure you want to do this?” The teenager looked ahead for a moment, as if actually contemplating the question. The woman’s fingers nervously twitched at her sides, as she glanced at the TSA officer then back at her son. “You know I won’t be able to protect you in Colorado and if you do something--”
“I’ll be fine, mother” Micah’s voice interrupted, a small smile crossing his lips. “I appreciate your concern, however I assure you it’s unnecessary. A straight flight to Denver International, correct? Then flag down a taxi for Pallet. My things will arrive in a day, so everything is in order.” He shifted his bag on his shoulder slightly, bumping the headphones that were contently around his neck. A frustrated sigh came from the other, running a manicured hand through her curls.
“You know that’s not what I meant” her voice came back sharply, ignoring the previous attempt to keep the peace. Once again, Micah’s eyes dropped to his boarding pass and then his photo identification that he had taken out of his right pants pocket. He didn’t want to have this conversation here, steps from a complete stranger and much less in front a government official. It made him feel like a terrorist or something sinister. “If your father and I receive one letter or call from--”
“We are in two completely different grades and the dorms are single-sex. Only a miracle will have us cross paths” Micah interrupted once again, closing his eyes and sighing. At least he hoped. He knew his mother had begged Jacob to keep it a secret, but Micah didn‘t know whether or not the girl knew that he was coming. “Besides, I won’t do anything that you would find unsatisfactory. Please tell Jacob I said good-bye.” Audrey hesitated then gave her son a smile as he finally looked her direction.
“That’s my boy” she said, wrapping her arms around Micah’s shoulders and pressing him tightly against her chest. The teen allowed her, something that surprised his mother. “I’m going to miss you so much. Two years is a long time. I don’t want to hear about any fights or… anything bad.” She suddenly raised her arm to glance at her watch. Micah backed out of the embrace at this point, knowing that she had to get to work soon. Having her take him to the airport was already a stretch, but his mother had insisted seeing him off.
“I promise you‘ll hear only good things” the teen said, readjusting his backpack and his white polo shirt with purple stripes across it. Micah gave a small smile, supposedly for reassurance as he took a step toward security. ”Have a good day at work. I‘ll leave a message on your phone when I arrive at Denver.” Audrey nodded her head. Micah turned around, ready to hand his boarding pass and identification to the man who was patiently waiting. The TSA officer had seen this many times in his day, so this was nothing new. Everything was returned to Micah, so he started forward to the metal detectors, just to glance back in time to see his mother’s back disappearing from view.
