For those of you who aren't sure what this is, this is National Novel Writing Month, aka November! Basically you have thirty days to write 50,000 words, an accepted novel length. The idea is that you have a deadline so the work doesn't just sit unfinished. You don't edit as you go, you just write and write and write until you have a full manuscript.
Is anyone going to go for it? I know I am! I've got a steampunk idea that I can't wait to write about~
It's based on a planet I made up called Cye (pronounced like sigh), which is divided evenly into two halves - one half is jungle with large freshwater oceans (Amanthium, a-man-thee-um) and the other half is desert, with a few large cities and mostly nomadic peoples (Salanthon, sal-ann-thon). They're populated by humanoids (nothing too strange there), and with these creatures called Bryns (brins). They look like brontosaurus, except they're fairly brightly colored (red, blue, yellow, white, or sometimes a patchy brown), have squat horns, and a primitive grasper on the end of their tails. They're basically the horses of the planet - used for farming, travel, pleasure-riding, war, and so on.
My main character is Cail, who is a Brynner (brin-er, like a Bryn keeper) who is bonded with a young Bryn named Wynn. He and Wynn have a telepathic connection, which is highly unusual since normally Bryns only share telepathic connections with their mothers, but since Cail raised Wynn, that connection was passed to him instead.
There's a civil war going on over the most important resources on the planet Cye (water and fuel) - basically the kings of Amanthium and Salanthon decided they didn't want to share anymore, so they got mad at each other for not sharing and are now at war. Wynn is drafted as part of the war effort, but Cail goes after him to rescue him. He journeys to the other side of the world, and I'm not sure how, but I'm going to have him involved in the politics and try to stop the war.
Yeah, that was pretty TL;DR, but that's my plot. I'm so excited to write it!
Does anyone else have a story idea yet? :D

Every time NaNoWriMo rolls around I feel like I want to try it, but I'm too lazy and I feel like I'd only fail miserably. Plus, I don't need any more distractions from homework in my life. It's a conundrum. Maybe I should just go for it...
But more importantly: when you start writing your novel, you need to let me read it. =D

Aww, I understand, Kashi. It is fun to at least try, though! But that might just be me. xP
And of course I'll share! I might even post it on here, if it gets finished. :3
