Dress code, that is.
So you guys prefer real or realistic pictures for characters, if they use them at all. But what is your stand on unnatural hair and/or eye color?
If any "natural" unnatural colors are allowed for either, how far does that extend? I doubt neon or multi-tones (though correct me if I'm wrong), but is it like 'as long as it's not to bold and ridiculous' (shades like N's or Clair's or Iris's hair)? Or maybe just common real-life colors that either aren't actually natural or are age-inappropriate in 99.999% of cases (that is, actual-red, maroon, gray, and white)? I'd be afraid if kaleidoscope eyes were allowed, but what about the typically unseen colors (red, purple, and yellow), or unnaturally deep or vibrant shades of normal ones (a blue like this or lime green, etc)?
And, of course, whatever the ruling on naturals, what is the school's policy on hair dye and colored contacts? Most places to my knowledge tend to allow at least natural colors and red/maroon, but with Pallet being a boarding school I suppose it wouldn't be implausible that it could be stricter. Or, of course, it could be more lenient, in which case the question is how much so.

I've been working on the school handbook which would outline these things, so this will be addressed. I've decided the school's policy would be that no more than half of your hair can be an unnatural color (lime green, cyan, fire engine red, pink, etc). That also applies for our acceptance policy. As long as someone wasn't born with green/blue/pink hair, it can be whatever color they like it'd be cool if it related to the Pokemon, for sure.
As far as eyes go, there are some colors that do happen more naturally. A light purple (such as with Micah Matthews), yellow, or vibrant blues or greens would be acceptable. No doubt there are other colors I'm forgetting, but yes, as long as they could occur in the natural world, I'm fine with anything. The school wouldn't have a policy on colored contacts, since they hope to help students achieve highest potential possible, they would do little to restrain their personal appearances, other than the hair clause mentioned above.
Hope that makes sense, and answers your question!

\o/ Whoo.
x3 Yes it does, or I'm pretty sure I got how you meant it. Though when you write the handbook officially, I'd use something like 'extreme colors' to describe those examples you gave, as 'unnatural' gives the impression of 'anything that cannot usually occur in nature', where your follow-up made it seem otherwise.
So yah. If I ever end up making Kali, she has gray hair and "red" (they are not hot pink) eyes. XPP Which was unintentional with the Rattata connection but ended up being part of the reason Rattata ended up tied to her (the ruby eyes I mean). So I can use the 'naturals' I established once for another thing and fall back on dye and contacts then<3 So yay. :'3
