Jynx, upon first impression, is an overbearing person. She likes to get into people's business and make sure everyone is happy and doing okay. She also likes to fix things, and not always with people's permission. She doesn't try to do this to be mean, she just thinks that everyone needs help, and that she is the right person to give the help. She will butt into conversations, even if they aren't directed at her, if she feels she has the right advice for the person involved. She is a reasonably smart person, and is knowledgeable in what she likes to do - Cosmetics, specifically with hair.

Along with this overwhelming friendliness, Jynx is a very touchy-feely person. She likes to give hugs and kisses on the cheek to her friends, and is always trying to make comforting gestures such as a hand on the shoulder. She is not shy about who or what she is, and is not afraid to show this, either. She's also not nervous about close spaces or being close to other people - she actually likes having a group of people around her, as it makes her feel secure and involved. In a relationship, she's constantly hand-holding, kissing, and touching her significant other.

If someone tries to say that they don't need her help, Jynx can get rather testy. At first she will try to blow off the denial of those she is attempting to help, whether it's about schoolwork or (more often) their appearance, but if it becomes more insistent, she'll start snapping and insisting that they needed her help. She is not easily dissuaded, unless someone absolutely gets angry and puts their foot down. She wants to help them be better, and so she's not trying to make them angry - she wants to make them happier. If she's not doing that, then she'll back away, but she doesn't get to that point too often.

Whether or not people want what she offers, however, Jynx knows what she's doing. She has always been good with styles, hair, and other things relating to the appearance, and likes to keep experimenting and fiddling with what can be done to make people look beautiful. If people are beautiful, then they have a sort of happiness with them, and happiness means good things in their lives - that is what Jynx believes, which is why she likes to pursue cosmetics. She's also reasonably intelligent, and will work at her schoolwork, although it is certainly not her first priority - if a fun opportunity to hang out with friends or go to a party comes up, schoolwork can wait. She does want to be successful so she can make an impact, she just prioritizes herself differently than she probably should.

As shown by her stubbornness, Jynx is not always the most open-minded of people. She likes to believe herself before anyone else, and thinks that if she can't trust herself, then she can't trust anything. She doesn't like to make changes to her life or to her way of thinking, even though she will try to sometimes. She'll usually tune out what she doesn't like to hear, though she has nothing against what other people believe. She just doesn't want to hear about it or have someone try to change her views on any particular topic.

Jynx loves anything related to romance. She is a sucker for romantic movies, poems, and novels. (She can often be seen reading a harlequin romance novel and then trying to hide it when she is aware someone is watching her.) She has dated around with many different boys since middle school, though none of her relationships are long-lived. Nevertheless, she lives in the hope that she will find "Mr. Right" and have a happy ending. She is easily charmed, and sometimes mislead, although if she finds out you have mislead her, her wrath is terrible to behold.

Jynx is a short person. She's only 5 feet, one inch tall, but she's still proud of that one inch. She likes to wear heels to make herself taller, but there isn't much she can do to hide the fact, so she stands as straight as possible to show that she still has backbone. She is fairly curvy, with a voluptuous chest and weighing around 140 pounds, though no one will ever discover that information. She just likes to say that she is prepared for the winters, even if they may not be as frequent as in Alaska.

She has dark skin and dark eyes. Her hair is dyed blonde, and wavy, and is her most valued possession. She would never cut it other than the usual trim on the ends to keep the split ends away. She spends almost all of her time fixing her hair, since that is the most stunning part of her appearance in her mind. She likes to wear a lot of dresses and skirts, though she knows when it is appropriate to wear other things. She isn't exactly a shirt and tennis shoes type of girl, however - she owns exactly one pair of running shoes, which remain mostly untouched.

She likes to dress in fancy blouses, and things that are colorful, though red is a favorite of hers. Make-up is also important to her appearance, especially lipstick. She could easily spend 30 minutes every morning for a light application of make-up, hair, and clothing. Any special occasion will warrant an hour and a half excursion, usually more.

hometown - Anchorage, Alaska

Darren and Brianna Winters met later in life, when they were both in their early thirties, but from the moment the blind date started, there was something magical. That was how Brianna would always describe it, anyway. They lived in Anchorage, Alaska, where Darren was a promoter of an oil company, and Brianna worked for a beauty supply store. They had a reasonably happy and peaceful life, made better by the arrival of Jynx Psyche Winters on January 24, 1992. Her name was chosen because of Darren's grandmother and Brianna's fondness for love stories, especially from mythology. The arrival of the baby actually brought Brianna and Darren closer together, and made them feel like a family.

Jynx's younger sister, Shay, came two years later, completing their family. Things were normal for the two sisters, and they remained close through out their years together. Shay would sometimes follow Jynx around, copying what she did because she thought her sister was the coolest. Jynx didn't mind most of the time, and in fact enjoyed quite a bit of the attention. Jynx was very friendly, and made a good group of friends, many of whom were boys. She liked to be around boys more, which caused problems as she grew older.

Jynx explored art during middle school, and found that while she wasn't the best artist, she could express herself with art, drawing and painting. She liked to create images for people, and set up a small "business" among her friends, who would request art from her and she would create it for them. It made her happy to see that other people enjoyed her creations, and so she was happy to make them. Toward the end of middle school, however, she started discovering the joys of make-up, hair, and the other arts of cosmetics. She helped all of her friends for the school dances, as well as fixing herself up. Her mother taught her most of what she learned, and some other things she figured out herself. She had a good eye for colors and what helped a person look good, or at least in her own mind. She became so enticed with how she could get people to look that she always started asking people if they wanted their make-up done, or if they wanted makeovers. As she grew older, she grew more confident, and therefore slightly more pushy. The only one who wouldn't get irritated at her all the time was her sister Shay, who would also try to play with cosmetic arts like Jynx.

When the time came to chose a high school, Jynx's father Darren decided that he didn't want her or Shay to go to a public school. He had the money, and he wanted his girls to have the best chance that they could to do whatever they wanted to do, and he felt that public schools didn't provide that opportunity. And so, when her father gave Jynx and Shay choices for which private or boarding schools they could attend (he included Shay even though she wasn't attending high school anytime soon just so she wouldn't feel left out, though assured her she could change her mind at any time), Jynx narrowed her choices down to a private school in Anchorage and Pallet High School. She liked the idea of being close to home, but Pallet High had a great cosmetic arts program, and actually encouraged the study, or any study that a student was interested in. In the end, the draw of having a major in her favorite hobby and passion was too great for her to resist, and she chose Pallet High School.

School got even better for Jynx when she arrived at Pallet High. She made decent grades, and made several friends around campus. She would return home every holiday that she could, and stay when she needed to. She found several love interests, and played around with different romances, but those never lasted too long, and she discovered that, even though she wanted to find "Mr. Right," being single wasn't half-bad all the time - a little lonely, but not terrible. Nevertheless, she still continued (and continues) her search for the man of her dreams.

As junior year ended, she found herself looking forward to being the "big fish" on campus, and to planning what she would do after graduation. The possibilities were endless.

• All references taken from Jynx's Bulbapedia page, as well as some inferences by me, mentioned below.
  
• Name/Gender: Jynx is an actual name, and the name of the Pokemon, so I used it for my character. Psyche can also be used as a real name, and so I took that because it remind me of the word “psychic,” one of Jynx’s types. (You could also say her name has to do with the wife of Cupid/Eros, since she learns Lovely Kiss and all.) Winters has to do with Jynx’s other type, Ice. She’s female for obvious reasons.
  
• Age/Grade: Jynx just strikes me as an older character, and she’s higher up on the evolution chain. So, she’s an 18 year old senior.
  
• Major/Minor: Cosmetic Arts because appearance is an important and distinct part of Jynx’s character, and she likes to fix things and make people happy. She’s in Anatomy partially for the amusement factor and partially because her body is another distinct marker of Jynx (i.e. her breasts, face).
  
• Portrayer - Her portrayer is Eve because she is African American (matching Jynx's dark skin), has big lips, and blonde hair. I just saw her and thought, “Jynx!”
  
• Personality: Jynx is overbearing because the character likes to be overly helpful, and is dependent on the happiness of others - if she can't make other people happy, she gets sad or irritated, matching her character. She is touchy because of Jynx the Pokemon's over-friendliness, and the use of Lovely Kiss. (It almost kisses Brock in one episode.) She likes romance also because of the Lovely Kiss and her feminine appearance, plus her appearances in the TV show. She gets angry when people do something that she doesn't like, directly relating to its appearances in the TV show, where it was shown to be overly protective.
  
• Appearance: Appearance is important to the Pokemon, so I also made it important to the character in how she presents herself. Since her hair is also an important part of her, that is her most prized asset. She also prefers to wear red, connecting to her red colored 'dress'.
  
• History: Jynx is from Anchorage, Alaska because her Bulbapedia says she lives in cold, isolated places. The first place I thought of as cold and semi-isolated was Alaska. Her younger sister is Shay, based off of Smoochum, her pre-evolution. She was known to hang around a lot of boys because she is a feminine Pokemon, and spent most of her time helping people and making friends, indicative of her personality. The art bit is because the Bulbapedia said Jynx can use telepathy to show images of experiences with others - to demonstrate Jynx's empathy for people. This lead to cosmetic arts, and trying to apply her hobby on others. Romance should be explainable now, and here she is at Pallet High, ready to take the halls by storm for her senior year. :]
