Charmaine(who hates her name,) has a very bright and upbeat personality. Maybe you caught her at an extremely bubbly moment and that threw you off, but no worries; she calms down once in a while. She is extremely friendly to the point of being overly affectionate to someone, even hugging strangers. She is that extreme positive thinker, and that can sometimes be her downfall. She's too trusting all of the time and ends up being taken for granted without knowing. Charmaine loves to make new friends, and won't hesitate to introduce herself to someone she hasn't met yet.

Charmaine has a passion for singing. She's been singing all of her life and really can't think of anything better. She'll sing randomly, in class, when she's practicing; anywhere really. Charmaine has a tremendous voice too. It's the main reason that she came to Pallet High. She wanted to better it. She also loves Musical Theatre. So when she can be in her la-la land and singing, she's overly excited to do so. Charmaine likes bells a lot, growing up in a bell maker's shop as a kid, so she's pretty much an expert on the subject.

Charmaine hates it when people are depressed and tries to cheer everyone up with bad jokes or a good song. She can play guitar quite adeptly. She suffers from a disease called Hypoglycemia, which means that her blood sugar malfunctions. But she doesn't see it as a problem and remembers to take her medicine...usually. She also suffers from ADD, so she can be a tad hyper at times. Charmaine scares easily...I mean, like terrible easy. Gullible is practically her middle name. She has a very profound scream.

Melody(which she prefers to be called,) is very short, only about five feet one inch. She doesn't care though. As far as physical attributes go, she has a lean body for her height, and a friendly face. Mel has curly long brown/almost black hair that is usually worn down. Her hair matches her dark, warm eyes. She has a round, almost childish face with full cheekbones and a huge smile. She weighs in at approximately 100 lbs.

Attire-wise, Melody has a large array of clothes. She can go from jean shorts and a t-shirt to very dressy clothes quickly. Melody is usually seen wearing a comfortable, yet nice outfit and some kind of hat. Mel loves hats, whether it is berets or fedoras. Her favorite colors to wear are powder blue shirts, matched with red skinny jeans and a yellow fedora.

Key things Melody/Charmaine is always wearing or has with her:

• Bell necklace around her neck that jingles lightly. Her dad made it for her when she was ten.

hometown - Born in Hawaii, moved to Kaysville, Kansas


Melody was born in Hawaii, though her family moved when she was three after the birth of her younger brother, Chance was born. Her father wanted to live someplace void of tourism, so they settled in a small town on the very west edge of Kansas. They could drive for five minutes and be in Colorado. It was in this town, Kaysville, that Mel found her home.

Melody was born to two loving parents, Korana, and her husband, Gary. She has a brother about three years younger than her. Melody had a very happy childhood. Her parents owned shops in the small town square. Her father made bells that he sold online and in the store. Kohnas's Bells. Her mother, on the other hand, ran a small cafe that specialized in Hawaiian cuisine. Melody and her brother got in a few fights, but it wasn't a big deal.

Then Melody found singing. It happened normally when she was about seven, playing around in her father's shop. Her father had finally fixed the radio that was shaped like a hula-girl, and turned it on. Soon Mel found herself belting out the lyrics, albeit on wrong notes. But she'd found something amazing. It was like her life was completed on that day.

So Charmaine Melody Kohnas kept right on singing, entering contest after contest. At the age of 15, she finally won one. It was in Kansas City, KS. Her parents were really skeptical about taking her, but she pleaded and asked until they gave in. Melody beat out the grunge metal singers and the little girls. Melody stole the hearts of the judges with one song. That song was Concrete Angel.

It was then that the Kohnas decided that Melody needed a better chance for schooling and the furthering of her voice. They school shopped, and decided on Pallet High School in Pallet, Colorado, well known for its Fine Arts program. And that was that. Melody was sent to Pallet High, with her brother following a few years behind her.

• Name Charmaine means song, and Melody means melody. (Charmaine-armaine+Melody-lody+Kohnas-hnas=Ch-Me-Ko((chimecho)) )
  
  
• Schooling I chose 'Vocal Performance' based off the fact that bulbapedia states: "These Pokémon have mostly have sound-based abilities such as creating sound waves in the ultrasonic range and other noises. They use their echoing cries to attack or to communicate with others. " I think this fits well with Vocal Performance since Chimecho relies off of its cries to communicate.
  
  I chose 'Musical Theatre' based off of Bulbapedia stating, "They communicate using seven distinct cries. These cries may convey different feelings. " 'Musical Theatre' uses songs to do just that.
  
  Both studies I found fit for Chimecho because its attacks and pokedex entries indicate that it is based off of wind chimes, which convey music.
  
  
• Personality- Charmaine was based off of James's Chimecho, so they have very similar personalities. Bulbapedia says that James's chimecho was upbeat and friendly/over affectionate to the point of wrapping it's tail end around James's head. I have Melody and extreme hugger to kind of fit that. Melody's love and passion for singing I based off the fact that Chimechos are the wind chime Pokémon, and have 7 distinct cries. James's chimecho was too trusting of Jessie once and was taken advantage of, so I added that quality to Mel.
  
  The fact that Melody is a bell buff is based off of the fact that Chimecho has a bell like structure on its head, as does its pre-evo. Melody s cares easily because I saw a picture or several of scared Chimechos. Bulbapedia also said that they wail profoundly when scared. I didn't picture Chimecho overly smart, but a bit above average. So I made Charmaine that way.
  
  
  
• Appearance- Since Chimecho is a small Pokémon, I made Mel a small person. Chimecho's bossy is round, and so is Melody's face. I gave Melody her favorite colors based off of Chimecho's normal colors, and she wears them in generally the same way. They bell necklace is a reminder of the bell shaped structure on Chimecho's head, the music note bracelet a reminder of Chimecho's cries.
  
  
• History- The fact that Melody's father owns a bell shop is a huge reminder of the fact that both Melody and her brother Chance are based off of characters that have bell-shaped structures on them. That's all I really have for History.
  
  
• Family- Though her parents aren't based off of anyone, Melody's brother was based off of Chingling. They both start with the CH sound.
