personality
Toliver is a quiet kind of guy, though that isn’t to be confused with shyness. He enjoys new people and talking to them about a variety of things. Likewise, should the conversation switch to something he is particularly fond of, he’ll jump right in. He gets very awkward very easily, especially if the conversation focuses on him. His personality stems even deeper and takes on an almost dark sort of demeanor the closer one gets. He’s hiding something very important and is sure to keep it under lock and key at all times.
He thoroughly enjoys photography of all sorts, especially self portraitsthe vain bastard. He’ll photograph just about anything, from a falling leaf, to a drop of dew, to the vast blue sky. If it exists, then it’s probably been photographed. No questions asked. If he's not busy on his computer with photos, then he's most likely figuring out brain teasers or finding new riddles to solve. As a side hobby to photography, he collects different types of spoons from various states and countries.
Overall, Tolly is a loyal kind of guy as well as a gentleman. When someone needs help, Toliver is usually there to lend a hand, even if it’s to someone he’s not very fond of. He tries his best not to hold grudges. He’s at his happiest when he’s surrounded by close friends but not necessarily the center of attention.
He’s got quite the habit of keeping people at a distance. For example, someone could be the person he hangs out with daily but still feel like they’re only acquaintances. This is often due to his fear of attachment. While it’s not the same clichéd, ‘I don’t make friends therefore I never get hurt’ sort of thing. Instead, it’s more like ‘I’ll keep them at a distance until I trust them to avoid getting hurt’. It makes sense in his mind.
He's got a terrible fear of the dark, mostly due to the fact that, as a child, his father told him terrifying ghost stories. As such, despite all his logic, he's still somewhat superstitious when it comes to ghosts as well. Even as a guy, Toliver is surprisingly squeamish, particularly about bugs. He greatly dislikes the fact that they have six legs and, in spiders' cases, eight eyes.

appearance
Standing at a full 5’9”, Toliver is rather average in height, though underweight at a solid 113 lbs, especially for a boy of his age. However, he appears to be rather healthy. He’s small in stature, with a very slim waist and is overall lanky. His hair is a dark brown, almost black shade, and his eyes are a rather piercing hue of blue. He has reading glasses but rarely ever wears them.
His wardrobe consists of mostly athletic jackets, the thin, light ones. This is due to that fact that he feels as though sweatshirts and hoodies are just too heavy and unnecessary for him. He greatly dislikes tight clothing and prefers baggier things such as cargo pants/shorts and plain T-shirts. If the temperature gets cold enough, though, he will wear heavier things if only to keep from freezing to death.
It's very rare that one will ever find Toliver without at least one camera on his person. It's even rarer to find him without his usual case of memory chips and film rolls. He usually wears his camera around his neck and the case of memories over his shoulder.

history
hometown - Hong Kong, China
Growing up, Toliver's family had always been a tad on the weird side, at least on his mother's half. She was one of those eccentric Chinese fortune tellers who always had a proverb to light your way or words of wisdom to keep away from danger. His father, on the other hand, was of American descent. He was visiting China on a business trip as he was a simple engineer sent there to work.
The two of them met in a rather uneventful way and, a year later, the two were happily married.
Growing up for Toliver wasn't too terribly difficult. He caught onto things with relevant ease and could remember things surprisingly well. When school came, he received high marks from the very beginning. However, he wasn't the next Einstein to figure out the answer to the universe. But he could take things and run with them, figuratively speaking.
It was near the beginning of his first grade year that Toliver first showed any interest in any one particular thing. His parents had taken him to a shop to find some things when he first became interested in a highly decorated soup spoon. His parents, finding nothing wrong with indulging their child bought it for him. Afterall, they'd probably need the sppon later on. However, instead of losing interest in it like they believed he would've, Toliver proceeded to show interest in various other types of soup spoons, even going as far as to take the ones in the house to add to his 'collection'.
In the middle of his first grade year, his younger sister, Kadence, was born. Toliver grew very attached to her. Later on in life, she would turn to him, as he was the only friend that would move along with her in the frequent changes. He would be the unchanging factor that she could always count on. And Toliver felt a big brotherly need to be there for her.
His father's work required him to move again, this time back to the states. His mother, deeply committed to her husband, moved along with him. Toliver's first taste of the US was in a New York airport. For some time, they lived in New York, New York, where Toliver continued to excel in school from second to fourth grade.
In the summer before his third grade year, another sibling was added to the family - a younger brother whom his parents named Abraxas. Toliver was never nearly as close to Abraxas as he was to Kadence, but he was still protective nonetheless.
Before fifth grade came, he moved again, this time to Grand Island, Nebraska. Despite all the moving around, Toliver seemed to be unaffected about it, at least, that's what his school marks said. In all actuality, he wasn't all that fond of moving around. However, he didn't complain. When they moved again after his fifth grade year, Toliver found himself saddened. Everywhere he had been, he had made friends and, while his memory was above average, he couldn't possibly remember each and every one of them
And he hated that.
So he asked for a camera. And that was perhaps the best choice he made in his life. He began taking photos of absolutely everything. Things were easier to remember if there was a prompt to go with them. When he moved once more right before high school, he took his photos along with him, memories and all. And he wouldn't forget his friends even if it killed him.
His next move brought him to a small placed called Bullhead City, Arizona. With a sense that he wouldn't be there for too long, he tended to shy away from making too close of friends. But that didn't stop him from making memories. So when yet another move uprooted him, he clutched onto his photos even more. This final move left him in Pallet, Colorado. It was here that he decided that he wasn't going to move anymore. If his parents had to move again, then so be it. But he wished to stay put. His parents understood before enrolling him in Pallet High School in the middle of his sophomore year.

- According to here, "The Pokémon Alakazam (and presumably its pre-evolutions) possesses a photographic memory, apparently because its system can replace lost neurons and have them undergo mitosis." As such, Toliver greatly adores photography, hence the major.
- Moving onto names, the name 'Toliver' is "Americanized form of the Italian family name Taliaferro (cognate with 1), from tagliare ‘to cut’ + ferro ‘iron’, probably applied as a nickname for a metal worker or a fierce fighter" (citation) His middle name Eugene comes from the the magician Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin's name. And Copperfield stems from the famous magician, David Copperfield. Here, it states that "Alakazam is based on a magician..."
- As it states in his physical description, Toliver isn't much of an athletic sort of person and is quite the thin guy. Bulbapedia says that "...[Alakazam] has become much more lanky"
- Toliver has two younger siblings, each one representing Abra and Kadabra. The youngest brother being Abraxas whose name incorporates 'Abra' into it. And Kadence, whose name also begins with a "Kad"
- In the same way that an Alakazam carries its spoons with it everywhere, Toliver carries his camera basically every place he visits.
- Toliver dislikes bugs, is superstitious of ghosts, and is also afraid of the dark. Psychic type pokemon are weak to all three types.

Being the new kid was never easy, especially in the middle of the year. But somehow, junior Toliver Copperfield managed. He was quiet but not shy or timid or anything of the like. He enjoyed new people and talking to them about various things. His voice was light and most poked fun at him for it, but he didn’t seem bothered. Instead, he merely went along with it, smiling and laughing with the others. He had dark brown hair that was shaggy yet held a windblown look to it. His eyes, on the other hand, were a gentle blue color and held such an innocence one wouldn’t expect from a high schooler. Despite playing ‘catch up’ in his classes, Toliver had a fairly easy time blending in with everyone else.
French class came fairly quickly, and he took a seat next to the window, right across from the analog clock. It was sunny out, catching his natural blond highlights. On the opposite side of the room, there was a group of girls giggling and occasionally glancing his way. Toliver seemed to take no notice of it. After all, he had been the new kid for six periods already. Why would the final period be any different? Class began and everybody settled down, allowing the teacher to do her thing. A girl that sat in front of him leaned back in her seat, her light brown hair cascading down on his desk. He recognized her as one from the gaggle at the beginning of class.
“Your name’s Toliver, right? Toliver Copperfield?” she asked politely, turning around to face him as the teacher sat down. He nodded, a soft smile gracing his lips. “I hear you’ve got a pretty voice. May I hear it for myself?” she giggled. Toliver chuckled in response before parting his lips to speak.
“Whoever told you that must be high,” he gave a small smirk upon finishing his statement. The girl almost seemed taken aback. Perhaps she wasn’t expecting his voice to sound as it did. That’s okay. For a boy of his age, it could be considered feminine.
“I’m Sapphire,” she introduced, holding her hand out. He shook it before resting his own hand on the desk in front of him.
“Like the gem, I presume?” Sapphire nodded.
“Can I call you Tolly?” she questioned. Toliver laughed.
“If you want to, go right on ahead. I don’t really mind.”
“Awesome. It’s your first day here, right? Why come on a Friday?”
“I figured it’d be easier to make friends on a day when the spirits are higher than usual. Friday seemed like the best day,” he explained.
“Oh, that’s a smart idea. How’s that going for you?”
“Well, I’d say it worked pretty well,” he grinned. She returned his smile with one of her own before turning back around.
